Nghia Hoang

Nghia received the B.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Sciences, Vietnam National University (VNU) in 2009, and the Ph.D. in Computer Science from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2015. From 2015 to 2017, he was a Research Fellow at Sensor-enhanced Social Media (SeSaMe) Centre, Interactive and Digital Media Institute (IDMI), NUS. He then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Laboratory of Information and Decision Systems (LIDS), MIT during 2017-2018. He recently joined the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab of IBM Research, Cambridge as a Research Staff Member. Nghia’s research interests span the areas of stochastic planning, active learning and non-parametric machine learning. The major theme of his research focuses on the theoretical study and design of effective active learning strategies for intelligent systems and scalable machine learning models for predictive analytic on large datasets.
