New member onboarding: Charles Leiserson (MIT) and Jie Chen (IBM Research), along with their students and colleagues, present and discuss their xGraph project on accelerated and explainable graph deep learning. An important part of the onboarding process is collaboratively exploring the diverse MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab portfolio and identifying opportunities aligned with the member company’s business priorities.

Intellectual Property

Open-source code is abundant, but much of it is licensed only for non-commercial use. At the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, companies can have access to IP developed by our projects, then safely build new proprietary technologies for business impact.

IBM Support

Even the most tech-savvy companies struggle to fully harness the power of AI, especially cutting-edge scientific work. To support members in this quest, our engagement team from IBM Research works closely with member companies on strategy, portfolio review, project engagement, prototyping, and pathways to scale.

Influence

We know AI. You know your business. Integrating domain knowledge from our members is a critical part of the lab’s mission. Each member company has a seat on our Executive Advisory Council and an open door to our office space through our Scholar in Residence program. Through parallel workstreams with tight feedback loops, our research is grounded in the most pressing real world problems.

Institutional Learning

For an organization to form and execute a sound AI strategy, its people must develop a strong collective understanding of the technology itself and its development path over time. Through our member engagements, we offer access to workshops, tutorials, special events, and webinars serving as an important training tools for companies seeking to skill-up in AI.
